MEET YOUR MEDIATOR
Brooke holds a Juris Doctor degree, is a Certified Professional Mediator, and is a recipient of the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Alternative Dispute Resolution. Her natural inclination toward family and child custody mediation comes from experience coparenting for her son and two stepdaughters. In addition to personal experience, Brooke has participated in several specialized courses on functional coparenting and child development, as well as child custody mediation. She brings with her a wealth of valuable experience, knowledge, and commitment to each individualized mediation session.
Before pursuing a career in mediation, Brooke worked in the Idaho Legislative Services Office as a Principal Legislative Drafting Attorney. In this capacity, Brooke wrote laws for legislators on both sides of the isle covering a myriad of subject matter, including laws relating to family, child protection, and education. One of the more rewarding aspects of her time with the legislature was crafting legislation that was the product of facilitating an agreement among multiple competing interests.
Brooke’s transition into alternative dispute resolution was driven by a deeply held belief that most conflict can be figured out through skilled mediation. Disputing individuals are not only better equipped to create their own unique solutions, but they are also significantly more satisfied when they retain control over their outcome, versus relinquishing decision-making authority to a third party (judge).
Giving back to her community is important to Brooke. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Idaho Mediation Association and on the Riverstone International School Board of Trustees. Brooke also volunteers for several Idaho-based nonprofit organizations and is a volunteer mediator for the Fourth and Seventh Judicial Districts of Idaho.
In her personal time, Brooke loves spending time outdoors hiking, biking, and doing all things water-related. Sharing the thrill of exploring new destinations with her family and friends is one of her greatest joys, and she can’t imagine life without music, books, and the visual arts.
